The extraordinary landscape in the marshland Frauenwinkel is ideal for enjoying a break in nature. There is also a lot to discover: a breathtaking variety of plants, rare species of dragonflies and butterflies as well as a distinct bird paradise. Directly in front of the Hotel SEEDAMM PLAZA you reach the path that leads along the sanctuary.
Activities
- Walk: Explore the area on your own on a walk along the existing trails. On several information boards along the way you will learn a lot about the flora, fauna and landscape of the beautiful protected area.
- Birdwatching: Rare wading and migratory birds, such as the northern lapwing, can be seen behind a visual protection directly on the edge of the reserve.

Monastery Einsiedeln
The monastery of Einsiedeln looks back on a history of more than 1000 years. You can marvel at the monastery church, the library «Stiftsbibliothek» and the drinking water fountain «Frauenbrunnen». The monastery shines in a particularly beautiful light in November during the Christmas market on the front square.
Rapperswil-Jona
Along Lake Zurich and across the wooden bridge, you will reach the «Rose City» of Rapperswil by a leisurely walk in about 1 hour. Enjoy the lake promenade, various playgrounds and shopping in the medieval old town.
Island Ufenau
The island Ufnau is accessible in a few minutes by boat from Pfäffikon or Rapperswil. In addition to a half-hour round walk, you may visit the two churches and the restaurant, which is open from Good Friday to the end of October. Since 1987, the Einsiedeln Monastery has again been practicing dairy farming and viticulture on the island of Ufnau.
Island Lützelau
In the middle of Lake Zurich lies the idyllic island Lützelau with its small restaurant and a camping site. The nature reserve can be reached by rental boat or the Lütz shuttle from Rapperswil-Jona. Those who like to be active may rent a rowing boat in Rapperswil and paddle the distance of about 1.5 km.
Lake Zurich
Enjoy from the SEEDAMM PLAZA not only the view over the nature reserve Frauenwinkel to the lake but also the proximity to the public bathing places Pfäffikon, Freienbach and Bäch. From the landing stage in Pfäffikon SZ or alternatively in Rapperswil SG, several scheduled boats depart between April and October to the island Ufenau, the surrounding villages and to Zurich. Our tip is to take a lake cruise with the shippping company ZSG.
Adventure Trail Upper Lake Zurich
Around the Upper Lake Zurich there are many beautiful pearls that invite you to discover and enjoy. Purchase the discovery backpack with a treasure and a quiz map at our reception desk and set out on your mission - because there is a lot to explore. The path along the shore can be experienced on foot or by bike.
The Way of St. James
The section of the path from Rapperswil to Einsiedeln passes directly by the SEEDAMM PLAZA and is part of the "Swabian Way" from Constance to Einsiedeln. Since 2020 we are official partner accommodation of the Swiss Routes of St. James. Pick up a print of the popular pilgrim's stamp at our reception.
Columban Way
Columban, the monk who united Europe... The Columban Trail through Switzerland is part of the European Via Columbani Cultural Trail. The Via Columbani is intended to replicate the path that the Irish monk Columban and his 12 companions hiked from Bangor in Northern Ireland to Bobbio in Northern Italy at the end of the 6th century. Stages 7a and 7b from Wädenswil to Rapperswil and Tuggen respectively pass by SEEDAMM PLAZA. Since 2020 we are official partner accommodation on the Kolumbansweg. Pick up a print of the popular pilgrim's stamp at our reception.
Vineyard trail
The vine path leads from the historic Leutschenhaus in Freienbach along the vineyards in the direction of Wilen and via the «Breiten» back to Freienbach. Duration approx. 1 hour.
Kümin Viniculture
The vineyards of the Kümin Brothers are located a little above Pfäffikon. Get to know the Schwyz wine specialties at a tasting in the vinotheque in Freienbach and let you explain everything in detail.
Family & Action
Dinosaur Museum Aathal
The stars of the museum are the real dinosaur skeletons from the museum's own excavations in Wyoming, USA. In addition to many dinosaurs, visitors also encounter other prehistoric giants and discover fossils as wonders of nature. Special annual exhibits continually add to and update the museum.
